We are a new research group focusing at the interface of optics and condensed matter physics. In particular, we use ultrashort high energy light pulses to study the light matter interaction at very short timescales (down to 10-15 seconds), even before the system comes to equilibrium. At this ultrashort timescale, the electrons, spin and lattice systems undergo separate dynamics. Our aim is to explore and control this ultrafast dynamics which is important from fundamental physics prospect as well as has vast applications in future high speed opto-spintronic devices.
