This 5-meter tall bronze sculpture was gifted to the University of Maryland by the Chinese government. The sculpture titled Peace Tree was created by artist Han Meilin. The cast broze sculpture was created to represent "Diversity in Unity". To commemorate this gift the University created its Peace and Friendship Garden. The gardens unique design was inspired by Chinese gardens through its use of art, stone, water, color, and plant variety.
