Nocturn is a steel sculpture created by late artist Andre Dunnell. Dunnel was a former graduate student of the University of Maryland. He went on to become a Professor and head of the sculpture program at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. The sculpture was given to the University by Dunnell's family after it was previously exhibited in a large sculpture exhibition at the University of Maryland Art Gallery.
