Who We Are
In late 2022, a congregation of United Methodists found themselves displaced as a result of disaffiliation. However, God’s prevenient grace was at work orchestrating the path for a group of believers who now proudly call ourselves the Grace United Methodist Church of Thomasville, Georgia. In January of 2023, Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor, following God’s call, came out of retirement to once again shepherd a body of believers who love the Lord and The United Methodist Church. Our new faith journey began the first Sunday in February 2023, and we have been meeting weekly ever since. The ways in which the United Methodists of Thomasville have witnessed God at work is an affirmation for this group of believers who have sought to be obedient, grow in our faith, and love our neighbor through serving. As a result, we also have learned what it means to be “the church” in new ways. At the 2025 SGAUMC Annual Conference, Grace was chartered as an official United Methodist Church. In June of 2025, Leigh Ann Raynor retired (again) from the ministry, although she will remain with us in spirit. We welcome the Rev. Joseph Carter as he begins his appointment to Grace UMC.
