I was born in a small town (A) in Southeastern China.
I received BS/MS in Applied Mathematics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China (B), MS in Computer Science from Cornell University (C), and PhD in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley (D).
I then worked at the Intel Research Berkeley Lab (D), and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA (E), developing large scale machine learning algorithms and their theoretical understandings, as well as state-of-the-art algorithms for automatic scoring of a class of biomedical images for cancer studies. Next I moved to the University of Missouri - Kansas City (F) to teach courses in Statistics (various levels).
Prior to coming to UMass Dartmouth (H), I was working for Walmart e-commerce (G) as a principal data scientist on the modeling of online shopping behavior of users at walmart.com for improved user experience.
