Guest Panel Bios
Felicia Cramer, CNM (she/her) graduated from Thomas Jefferson University/Baystate Medical Center with a degree in Nurse-Midwifery in 2021. Prior to this, she worked as a Labor, Delivery, Postpartum, Recovery (LDRP) bedside nurse for 3 years with prior experience working in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She currently serves on the Political Action Committee within the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
Nellipher Lewis Mchenga PhD, MS, BScN/M, RN is a registered nurse and midwife with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery from Kamuzu University of Health Sciences previously known as Kamuzu College of Nursing, University of Malawi. She holds a PhD from University of Massachusetts Amherst and works with Fitchburg State University. She is an assistant professor in the Nursing Department, and she teaches Maternal-Newborn Nursing. Her research focuses on adverse childhood experiences and how it affects health. Her most recent research project focuses on helping pre-nursing students develop resilience to enhance their transition to college and promote their well being. She is a co- founder of Youthline organization which aims at providing support and guidance among marginalized population. She believes that every individual deserves to be heard, seen and understood.
Patrick McMurray, RN is a second-generation nurse, working in pre-surgery care at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. His primary clinical background is in adult cardiovascular care. Patrick entered nursing via the Associate Degree in the Nursing pathway at Robeson Community College in 2013, where he now works as adjunct faculty teaching pharmacology. Patrick is currently completing his capstone for a Master of Science in Nursing, with a focus in Nursing Education at Western Governors University. Patrick’s interests include community college nursing education, decolonizing nursing, symptom science, and citizen science. Patrick will be starting his Ph.D. in Nursing in fall 2022. In his spare time, Patrick gets absorbed in his favorite pastimes of reading, writing, and exploring, and getting involved in citizen science projects involving ecology, biodiversity, and astronomy. Christine Schrauf PhD, RN, MBA is an active member of the American Nurses Association Massachusetts Health Policy Committee and actively participates in state legislative advocacy. Christine is also an adjunct faculty member at Elms College in Chicopee, MA where she teaches health policy and ethics to graduate nursing students. Dr. Schrauf’s LinkedIn Profile.
Ellen Smithline, Ph.D., RN, CEN (she/her/hers) is the Director of Nursing for Clinical & Support Options, including FriendsoftheHomelessProgram. SheisarecentgraduateoftheUMASSAmherstCollegeof Nursing Ph.D. program. She has been a nurse for over 35 years, including 25 years as an Emergency Nurse. Herresearchinterestsincludeherdissertation,"Factorsthatinfluencethedecision-making process of the Emergency Nurse," sexual health, eye-tracking, professional introduction, and identifying barriers to prevention, care, isolation, and treatment for the unhoused population exposed or diagnosed with COVID-19. She is currently developing a new nursing presence within the largest shelter in Western Massachusetts. Her years at UMASS (also known as her midlife crisis) have been rewarding as she participated in the CON's many opportunities. She was recognized as the UMASS CON PhD Excellence in Service Award, UMASS Amherst Student Graduation Commencement Speaker, and Johnson & Johnson Top 10 Nurses Pioneering Innovative COVID-19 Solutions. She has presented at local, national, and international conferences and is excited to be part of the Nursing PhD Research Symposium.

Emily Lugdon, PhD Candidate, DNP, MS, BSN, BSSW, FNP-C, RN
Emily Lugdon (she/her) is an Active duty U. S. Army family nurse practitioner with a background in emergency and forensic nursing. Her client population includes service members, veterans, their family members from neonate through older adults. Her research interests include stress, trauma, healing, individual and community wellness, health behaviors.

Linda Young, APRN, MS, FNP-BC, PhD Student
Linda Young (she/her) has 40 years’ experience in Maternal Child Nursing. Her bedside nursing experience includes NICU (26 yrs), visiting nursing (2 years), school nursing (2 years), teaching in AD and BSN programs (7 years), np in primary care pediatrics (6 years) and currently np in developmental behavioral pediatrics (6 years). She is currently working in a developmental behavioral pediatric practice as a nurse practitioner with an interdisciplinary team caring for infants and children 2 months old to age 21.her research interests include childhood trauma, developmental outcomes, and autism.

Sabriye Abban, Ph.D. Candidate, MPH, MHA, RN, MFT, SW
Sabriye Abban (she/her) is a registered Nurse from Eskisehir Osmangazi University at Faculty of Medicine in Eskisehir in Turkey. Her clinical experiences include Department of Chest Diseases, Surgery, Radiation Oncology, and Dermatology. She is currently a PhD candidate and Teaching and Research Assistant in the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing at University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research interests include public health, health promotion, youth tobacco prevention, obesity prevention, vulnerable population, chronic diseases, school nursing, public health nursing, geriatric nursing research.

Jasmine Da Silva, MS, RN, PMH-BC (goes by JD)
JD has been a nurse for 4 years working in psychiatric mental health nursing. She has her AA, ADN, BS, MS and is currently a PhD Student at Umass Amherst. Her interests are nursing suicide and nurses with psychiatric illness. When she’s not working she enjoys time with her 8 year old daughter.
