Dr. UMAR FAROOQ ATTARI

INTRODUCTION

Dr. Umar Farooq is an experienced academician with a passion for teaching finance and leveraging data for analysis and visualization. Currently, he holds the position of Associate Professor at NAMAL University, Mianwali. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at FAST-National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences from 2015 to 2024. He also served Lahore Leads University as lecturer from 2012 to 2015. His research interests include bankruptcy prediction, fraud detection, corporate finance and Islamic Financial Products, with over 20 publications in prestigious journals. Dr. Farooq possesses expertise in various data visualization tools like Google Looker Studio and Power BI, along with advanced proficiency in programming languages like Python and R for data analysis.

Research Areas. 

Prediction and Cost of Financial Distress - Turnaround Strategies - Predicting Fraudulent Reporting - Financial Markets and Asset Pricing - Islamic Financial System 

Islamic Banking and Finance. 

In 2019, he started his Dars e Nizami from Faizan Online Academy (http://quranteacher.net/ ). He also has taken various trainings and workshops in Islamic Finance. 

Business Analytics. 

He has good hands on Power BI, Power Query, Excel VBA, STATA, SPSS, R-Studio and Python. He has completed various short courses on data science and business analytics.

Machine Learning. 

He has applied machine learning algorithms in his doctoral thesis. He is able to develop machine learning models using WEKA. He also works on Rapid Miner. 

Bibliometric Analysis. 

He is an expert of bibliometric analysis using VOS viewer, R Package - Biblioshiny and CiteNetExplorer. He is an expert of literature searching through Scopus, WOS and Google Scholar using advance search queries.

Reference Management. 

He is an official trainer of Mendeley Reference Management Software. He also has good knowledge of Endnote and Qiqaa reference management.

Accounting Information System: 

He has good knowledge of Odoo, Peachtree and Quick Book.
