"Momma, I Made It"
I still remember the feeling—walking into Starz Entertainment on my first day, thinking, “Momma, I made it.” It was surreal. Just getting there was an adventure—my interview was my first-ever plane ride. My family never traveled beyond a car ride, so stepping onto that plane felt like stepping into a new world. I had no idea that world was about to throw me straight into the deep end.
Ever heard the phrase "tossed to the wolves"? That was me—on my first assignment, covering a press junket for a Denzel Washington movie. Yes, that Denzel. I was supposed to interview him. Let’s just say, the man is serious. Sitting across from him was no place for an amateur who didn’t even know how to check into the Four Seasons properly. And then—was that Meg Ryan? She greeted me, and I responded with a silence so deafening it could have shattered glass.
I could list a hundred rookie mistakes from that day, but none of them mattered because, in my head, “Momma, I’m in Hollywood.”
I failed. A lot. So much that I had no choice but to get good—good at what? Creative.
Where I thrived was in the work—just me and a movie to promote. The people part? That came later. Back then, I was still saying things like, "Raise the window down." (Yeah, I know.) But failure became my greatest teacher. I learned to embrace discomfort because growth doesn’t come with comfort. Every morning, I reminded myself:
You’re talented. You’re gifted. You’re creative.
Because I knew that would be the last time I’d hear it that day.

So, I became a sponge—soaking up everything I could about storytelling, branding, marketing, and creative leadership. I learned that success isn’t about avoiding failure; it’s about being relentless in the face of it. And that’s exactly how I built my career—transforming brands, leading high-impact campaigns, and creating content that doesn’t just get seen but gets felt.
And now? I lead with that same fire, passion, and resilience. Because creative isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am.
My imagination was set free.
