ULTIMATE-Subaru Science Workshop

ULTIMATE-Subaru will open a new window on the near-infrared Universe, combining Subaru’s 8.2-m aperture with ground-layer adaptive optics across an unprecedented 14 × 14 arcmin field. Its first dedicated instrument, WFI, will deliver sharp, wide-field imaging in the near-infrared with a versatile suite of broad-, medium- and narrow-band filters.

With commissioning slated for 2028 and full operations by 2029, the time to prepare is now. Join us at Macquarie University on Nov 9–11, 2026, to discuss & define the core science cases that will drive ULTIMATE. This workshop is a critical opportunity for the Australian community to secure strategic access, establish leadership in key projects, and collaborate directly with our Japanese partners.
