Born in Seoul in 1982, Jong Min earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Yonsei University (2000–2007). He completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Yonsei University (2007–2013) and served as a Research Professor at Yonsei University (2013–2014).

He then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford, UK (2014–2017), and continued his academic journey as a Research Professor at Korea University (2017–2023), also contributing as a Researcher at the IBS Center for Molecular Spectroscopy and Dynamics.

In January 2023, Jong Min became an IBS Young Scientist Fellow, and since March 2023, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Kyungpook National University.
