May Allaah have mercy on us all!
About Us: Ulayyah was a project in planning for many years. Many eager young Muslims have developed the desire in seeking Islamic knowledge but they don't know where to start. The books read in this program will give students a strong solid foundation when it comes to seeking knowledge. Each book and the order of the books have been recommended by the scholars of Islaam. The goal of this program is to help students develop an avid love of reading, gaining Islamic knowledge, and cultivating them upon Islamic morals and character.
Who is Ulayyah?: The meaning of this name is "high status and rank", and it is a female name. In Arabic it is spelled: عُلَيَّة. This was a name I passed by reading the book called, "Noble Women Scholars of Hadith". The name captivated me so much, I told myself, I would name my daughter after her, In Shaa Allaah. Her biography is simple: Ulayyah bint Hassan: "She was a noble and intelligent woman. She had a place in al-Awaqah which she was known by. Salih al-Murri and other notables and fuqaha from al-Basra used to go to her to ask her about 'ilm (knowledge) and she would emerge from her house and speak to them and ask them questions." May Allaah have mercy on her, and our scholars, and reward them for their efforts.
