UL SIAM Student Chapter
Student Conference 2019
University of Limerick
Friday 18th January 2019
The University of Limerick SIAM student chapter will be hosting its second Student Chapter Conference on Friday 18th January 2019. This will be the fifth Irish SIAM Student Chapter Conference, with the previous event hosted by the NUI Galway chapter in 2017.
This conference provides an opportunity for postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers, from both Ireland and the UK, in the area of applied or industrial mathematics to share their work in a one day conference environment. The conference aims to build relationships and encourage collaboration between early career researchers from both Irish and UK institutions.
The plenary speakers for the event will be:
- Dr Matthew Gregory Hennessy, Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford,
- Dr Felicity Lamrock, National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics and Trinity College Dublin.
The event is generously supported by MI-NET (Mathematics for Industry Network) and SIAM, and is organised in conjunction with MACSI (Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry) based in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UL.
Registration for the conference is now closed. If you have any queries, please contact email@example.com.
The conference will be held in room D1-050 which is located on the first floor of the Main Building (number 13 on the campus map). The easiest way to find the room is to enter the building at the main reception (located here) and follow the signs. Registration will take place from 9am, with talks starting at 9.30am. The schedule and abstracts can be found in the conference booklet here.

This will be a free event with lunch and evening dinner provided for all participants.
This conference is supported by COST Action TD1409, Mathematics for Industry Network (MI-NET). COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding agency for research and innovation networks. COST actions help to connect research initiatives across Europe and enable scientists to grow their ideas by sharing them with their peers. This boosts their research, career and innovation.
