9th UKJEEL Workshop
Future Postgraduate Education
in Science & Engineering
5 September 2022, online
The 2022 UK-Japan Engineering Education (UKJEEL) Workshop will be held as an online event on 5 September 2022. The main theme of the 2022 Workshop is "Future Postgraduate Education in Science & Engineering". Like in previous years, the workshop will consist again of two tracks:
(1) student track: "Engineering for a Sustainable Society"
(2) faculty track: "Future Postgraduate Education in Science & Engineering"
In the student track, Master and doctoral students give oral presentations of their ongoing research related to the topic of "Engineering for a Sustainable Society".
The faculty track aims at exchanging ideas for education in science and engineering, strengthening existing and initiating new contacts, facilitating new research exchanges and professional development. This year, the focus of the faculty track will be on "Postgraduate Education in Science & Engineering" and address questions such as: What lessons were learned over the past two years of predominantly remote teaching due to the Covid-19 pandemic? What modes of online teaching, learning, and students' assessment have proved to be efficient, and why? What did not work? Which elements of postgraduate education can not be efficiently taught in the virtual laboratory? The faculty tracks seeks to address these pertinent questions, with the goal to establish best practices in teaching and learning. Students are welcome to participate in the discussion and share their perspectives as well.
Whereas previous UKJEEL Workshops emphasized interactions and collaborations between delegates from the UK and Japan, this year's workshop will be a global event.
Call for extended abstracts
For the student track, we solicit extended abstracts (max. 2 pages including references) on all aspects related to "Engineering for a Sustainable Society". The first author must be either a Master or PhD student. Accepted extended abstracts will be included in the online UKJEEL 2022 Proceedings.
