Conference Venue

The 2024 UKACM conference will be held at Durham University in the Department of Engineering.

Durham University (then the University of Durham) was founded in 1832 by Bishop Van Mildert and the Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral and is England’s third oldest university after Oxford and Cambridge. Durham University is a Collegiate University with ancient traditions and modern values and ranked within the world's top 100 universities in QS World University rankings 2023.  Durham University is an integral part of Durham City, a treasure house of culture and heritage, yet compact enough to explore easily on foot.  Durham's 11th Century Cathedral and Castle form a World Heritage Site, well worth exploring if alongside the conference.

All technical sessions will take place in the Lower Mountjoy "Science" site, and focused within the Department of Engineering's Christopherson and Higginson buildings.  The Department of Engineering at Durham University has a long history, with Engineering degrees being taught at Durham since 1838, making it the first course of its kind in England.  The current Durham City site dates from the 1960s, founded by Sir Derman Christopherson.

The focus of the social programme is the conference banquet on Thursday evening, which will take place in on of Durham's historic colleges.

It is easy to travel to Durham by air, rail, road and sea. Durham is served by two international airports and is linked to other major cities in the United Kingdom by high speed train services. The city centre is only 2 miles away from the A1 Motorway linking London to Edinburgh.
