Why Did You Choose This Major/Minor?

I have always been very passionate about science, while I do intend to obtain a Masters in Public Health within Epidemiology, I wanted to pursue this major for my younger self.

Current Hobbies/Activities?

I love to cook and bake during my off time. I also learned how to skate with a longboard this summer! 

Long Term Goals?

I intend to gain a Masters in Public Health within Epidemiology at UT Health and work for the CDC or WHO to monitor disease outbreaks after university. Then after some time and familiarity in the field I would like to start in Public Health Policy work. 

Why Do you Want to be a Mentor?

I understand what it is like to be new to Houston, especially being away from home that you can not visit on the weekends (no shade), but I learned. I learned it is the community that you make. I hope I can be part of your community. 

How do You Feel You Would Help Your Mentee?

While there may not be many Public Health Freshmen and I am not pre-Med or pre-Dental, I can help with adjusting. Houston is the most diverse city in the US with one of the highest populations and lives up to those stats. It can feel overwhelming, but that just means there is so much to explore and so many people to meet. I am also far in the STEM pathway and can give good advice on who to take and how to study based on your professor/class!

What Advice Would you Give to An Incoming Terry?

Your studies are important, so make sure you study as much as you can to leave no regret. But make sure you live your life. We have our entire lives to work, but only four years doing this. I personally can not believe I am halfway done and I wish I had four years to go like you.
