This is me with my cousin’s dog in New York City, which is probably my favorite city ever. This was one of my favorite days because I got to spend time with family while exploring one of my favorite places. I love this picture because it reminds me to enjoy the little moments and make memories wherever I go.
Major: Public Health
Minor: Biology
Why Did You Choose This Major/Minor?
I chose Public Health because I’m passionate about healthcare and want to understand how we can improve health not only for individuals, but for entire communities. I chose Biology as my minor because I love learning about science and the biological side of medicine. Together, they fit my long-term goal of working in healthcare while understanding both the science behind disease and the larger factors that affect people’s health.
Honors College: ❌
Live On Campus: ✅
Involvement:
I’m involved in a variety of things both on and off campus. At UH, I’m an NSM Student Leader, where I help incoming first-year and transfer students adjust to college. I’m also the Secretary for the PAIR UH Chapter, Sponsorship & Fundraising Coordinator for the Persian Culture Association, and the Founder & President of the Horizon Kids Project. I was also part of the 2026 Asian Americans Advancing Justice Youth Ambassador Cohort, focused on immigration advocacy and leadership.
Academically, I’m a Research Assistant working on a communication sciences and biostatistics research project. I’ve also worked with students through PAIR and spent this summer as a camp counselor at Sleepaway Camp in upstate New York. Outside of school, I work as a server and enjoy volunteering with different community organizations.
Overall, I really love staying involved, meeting new people, helping others, and trying new things.
PSA: please don’t ask me how I manage to do all of this because honestly, I don’t know either 😂.
Favorite Genre of Music?
Favorite Artist?
I love pop music! My music taste definitely changes depending on my mood, though
Favorite Movie?
My favorite TV show is Suits. I could honestly rewatch it over and over. I love the characters and all the drama, and it’s one of those shows I can put on whenever I don’t know what else to watch.
Current Hobbies/Activities?
I love reading romance books, watching rom-coms, hanging out with my friends and family, scrolling on my phone for way too long, trying new restaurants and places, and traveling. I especially love going somewhere new and just exploring. I’m also the type of person who will randomly suggest going somewhere or trying something new just because it sounds fun.
Long Term Goals?
My long-term goal is to become a pediatric oncologist and earn an MPH. I want to work with children and families affected by cancer while also understanding the public health side of healthcare, especially prevention and access to care. I also want to continue giving back to my community, travel, experience different cultures, and build a career where I can make a meaningful difference in people's lives.
Why Do you Want to be a Mentor?
I want to be a mentor because I love being part of the Terry community and I want to give back in a more personal way. College can be such an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming when everything is new. I want to be someone my mentee feels comfortable coming to, whether they have a question about school, need advice, or just want someone to talk to
How do You Feel You Would Help Your Mentee?
I would help my mentee with both school and the overall college experience. I can help with classes, time management, getting involved, finding opportunities, and navigating those moments when college feels overwhelming. I also want to encourage them to try new things and make the most of their college experience.
I know that sometimes you don't need someone to solve a problem for you—you just need someone who understands and is willing to listen. I want to be that person for my mentee and make sure they always feel comfortable reaching out to me.
This is me with my friends at a pajama-themed silent disco this summer. It was such a random and fun night, and I think it represents me pretty well because I love being around my friends, doing silly things, and making memories out of ordinary moments.
This is me with my Terry family! I feel like this photo shows one of the happiest and most genuine versions of me. I love being around these people, and I’m so grateful for all the memories we’ve made together. We’re always trying new things, going places, and somehow ending up with a funny story.
What Advice Would you Give to An Incoming Terry?
I know everything can feel really big and scary at first, especially when you're away from home and trying to figure everything out on your own. But I promise it gets better. Give yourself time to adjust, don't be afraid to ask for help, and remember that you don't have to have everything figured out right away.
Try new things, meet new people, and don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Some of the best memories I've made in college came from experiences I was initially nervous about. Most importantly, enjoy it because time really does fly by!
Choose One Movie Quote to Live By. What Would it Be?
“Just keep swimming.”
— Finding Nemo
I feel like it’s simple, but it really describes college. Sometimes you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, but you just have to keep going and trust that you’ll figure it out.
