African American Club
The African American Club is a club that inspires, encourages and educates our students here at UHS as well as our community! All are welcome!
Art Club
Art Club meets Thursdays from 3:30-4:30. The club hosts professional artists, participates in art enrichment activities such as murals and community service, and functions as an open studio.
Ballet Folklorico de los Tigres
BFT expresses the beauty of Mexican culture through dance. Join us for practice on Wednesdays at 2:30pm. We have performances throughout the school year both in and out of UHS.
Book Club/SLAB
Student Library Advisory Board. Meets monthly (sometimes more) during each lunch hour. Bring your lunch and a desire to discuss books! New themes picked each meeting. Stay tuned to morning announcements & the Library IG page for updates.
Chess Club
Come play chess with us! The Chess Club meets on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in room 2152.
Computer Club
Goals: provide students with information on what computers are and how to fix them and/or build them; teach programming languages; make servers; explore other existing technologies such as 3D printing, VR headsets and more. Club members are welcome to give ideas of other computer and technology related topics! Meets every Thursday, 3:30 - 4:15pm in the library.
Crochet Club
Learn to crochet, crochet decorations for the halls, donate crochet pieces to charities, relax after school, and meet new people!
Debate Club
Whether you’re a seasoned debater or just interested in improving your public speaking skills, we welcome all students to join us. Come engage in friendly debates, and meet fellow students who share your passion for discussion of a variety of topics. Meetings are Thursdays at 3:30 in Room 2226.
ECHO
The student-run Urbana High School newspaper has informed, entertained, and provided an open forum for students since 1924. We maintain these goals today through biannual print publications and weekly stories published on uhsecho.com. Interested in learning more about journalism? Sign up for the class during your Fall or Spring semester!
Engineering Club
This year we have a few projects we will be working on, including to design and fabricate products that encourage sustainability and recycling at UHS. We are looking for ideas and new members, all are welcome. Engineering Club meets on Thursdays at 3:30-4:30pm, in room 3157.
FCCLA
Do you enjoy cooking or baking? How about working with young children? What about sewing? Developing your leadership skills? If anything related to Family and Consumer Sciences intrigues you, join our club!
Feminist Student Union
The FSU, or Feminist Student Union, represents the community of feminists within Urbana High School, which advocates for gender equality within our classes, extracurriculars, and town. The goals of our club are to create a safe space for all feminists to gather and discuss, advocate, and volunteer for gender equality. We meet every other Friday in room 2221 at 3:30 pm.
FFA
Future Farmers of America. Develop leadership, personal growth, and career skills through agricultural education.
GSA
Calling all she's, they's, and gays! Come to Gay Student Alliance! GSA is a club for all LGBTQIA+ students looking for a safe space to meet friends and build community
Habitat for Humanity
The UHS Habitat for Humanity Club is a group of students and staff members who volunteer in our community to build houses and address housing inequality. We meet at 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Fridays in Room 2177. Both meetings are the same so students can choose which meeting to attend.
Interact Civic Engagement
Our club focuses on community service and international understanding. Students engage in civic work and encourage others to do so as well.
JR MANRRS
Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, & Related Sciences Club. Our goal is to start seeing more minorities in our high school AG classes! We host fun events and fundraisers to spread the word about our club and show people that AG classes are fun and interesting!
Key Club
The Key Club motto is "Caring- Our way of life." This student-led organization builds character and leadership skills through community service.
Korean Culture Club
Do you you like all things Korean? Food, music, dramas? Join the Korean Culture Club. Meetings Thursdays every other week (alternating with Ping Pong Club), 3:30-4:20pm in room 1158.
Jazz Band & Combo
An audition-based before school jazz band comprised of traditional jazz instruments. We perform at different venues around town, at our own concerts, and participate in different competitions around the state.
Ladies in Lab Coats
Young women interested in STEM. Attend talks & visit labs at UIUC, work on research projects, and support other women passionate about science.
Latino Club
We strive to encourage and motivate students to be their authentic selves and teach others about the culture. The Latino Club meets during all lunch hours on Tuesdays in room 2159.
Loophole
Student Literary Magazine- an outlet for individuals to share their artistic voice. Help gather submissions and produce the magazine.
Mariachi Tigres de Urbana
Mariachi Tigres de Urbana is a fun, inclusive after-school club for those who love music. People get to learn instruments or continue playing their current instruments and/or sing, all in mariachi style. The group plays mariachi band music from different regions of Mexico and other places and is open to all students, regardless of race or culture.
Math Club
Students in Math Club solve interesting problems, prepare for math contests, and compete against other schools. Math Club meets on Fridays after school in room 3167.
Muslim Student Association
This is a space for students to connect, discuss Islamic values, and engage in meaningful conversations about faith, identity, and current issues. We also hope to plan events that promote understanding and community outreach. Everyone is welcome, regardless of religious identity—come be a part of our growing community! Tuesday 3:30 PM in Banister’s room, 2226.
Multicultural Club
Celebrate cultures from all around the world through fun and engaging activities. Whether it’s history, music, food, or traditions, we’re creating a space where everyone can come together, learn, and enjoy. Bring your ideas, your energy, and your curiosity—this is just the beginning. Open to all students. Come be part of something meaningful. Tuesdays 3:30-4:20
National Honor Society
Students achieving a 4.25 GPA during the previous academic year receive an invitation to apply to NHS in the winter. To apply students list their volunteer & extracurricular activities and write a brief essay. Members complete 20 volunteer hours and pledge to uphold the ideals of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.
Peer to Peer Tutoring
Looking for a way to earn volunteer hours, boost your college applications, and make a real impact? Join the PTP Tutor Program! Whether you're a seasoned reader of philosophy or just curious about the big questions in life, everyone is welcome! We'll explore ways to dive deeper into philosophical thought together. Ping Pong Club
If you want to hit the ball around or learn how to play, come and check it out! Equipment will be provided. Every other Thursday, alternating with Korean Club, 3:30-4:20pm in room 1149.
Punk Club
Join us for all things Punk! Listen to music. Watch some documentaries. Learn how to make something. Teach others how to make something. Thursdays at 3:30pm in room 2201
Royal Diamonds Dance & Step Team
To promote positive school spirit through precision dance. To strengthen members dance abilities via techniques and choreography skills, to help members develop good sportsmanship, self-confidence, self-discipline. to encourage leadership, friendships, high morals and standards amongst members. to represent the school and community in an exemplary manner. Try-outs in April/May
Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad is a competition where teams of up to 15 students compete in 23 events across various science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The events are designed to foster teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration, and they cover a broad range of topics, including biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, engineering, and technology.
Student Council
The purpose of Student Council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. Elections for Student Council are usually held in April of the previous school year.
Theatre & Drama Club
We produce 4 shows a year and strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for the entire UHS student body. Students that meet the requirements are inducted into Thespian Troupe #161.
Ultimate Frisbee Club
All skill levels are welcome! We’ll cover how to throw the frisbee and the basic rules of the game. Bring your friends and come have some fun! We meet on Tuesdays after school from 3:30 - 5 PM near the softball field.
VCR
VCR (Vocal Chords Required) is an A Capella group. Students audition for the group early in the Fall. Rehearsals are held before school at 7 am 2-3 times a week and occasionally on Saturdays. The group performs at school concerts, carols at local venues, attends vocal clinics, and competes in the Spring. Let your inner rock star rule! Come join us! It’s fun!
