Unbiased Housing for All
To provide inexpensive, well-maintained, clean, and safe housing for all of Toronto – thereby increasing the city's standard of living.
UHA is a non-profit organization with the goal of improving the wellbeing of Torontonians. The organization was originally founded by our 4 founding fathers: Caeden, Teoman, Cruise, and Gabriel. Through our advocacy, we wish to enact change particularly in the housing sector (with plans to expand with future funding). This will be achieved through our main 4 missions, listed below:
Advocate for more affordable housing policies (Co-housing), ensuring that Torontonians have a safe, and secure place to live no matter socioeconomic conditions.
Research on the root causes of the housing crisis are not sufficient, or in the cases they are, can be difficult to find. Through our organization and funding, we wish to produce our own research through surveys, and demographic analyses on this topic. Further, we wish to bring this gate kept research to the general population, preventing misinformation on the issue as a whole. This allows us to gain support from the public once opinions rooted in truth are formed.
The housing crisis is mainly caused by a lack of funding into governmental housing units. These units can not be mass-bought by corporations and are, thus, immune to monopolization. This is a great way to reduce the average cost of housing in the City, and is why we are advocating for such a movement.
Outdated zoning laws prevent dense housing, limiting the amount of potential housing units made. Through this, the price of housing artificially rises, thus, contributing to the housing crisis. To prevent this phenomenon, dense housing must be enforced and incentivized by revising zoning laws
