If you want a lightweight, versatile 2-in-1 transmitter and receiver that handles gym machines and car stereos with ease, choose Ugreen Airplane; if you need a dedicated, premium-flight companion with dual-pairing for sharing movies and superior audio codecs for glasses wearers, choose Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr.
• Ugreen Airplane: Its biggest strength is its compact, ultra-light design (30g) and true 2-in-1 functionality as both a transmitter and receiver for diverse devices like treadmills and TVs. The trade-off is a shorter battery life of 27 hours total but no pass-through charging while in use. This pick is for the traveler who needs one small device to solve multiple audio problems across different environments.
• Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr: Its biggest strength is the specialized flight ecosystem, including aptX Adaptive support for high-quality audio and the ability to pair two headphones simultaneously from one seat jack. The trade-off is its heavier metal build and a more rigid focus on airplane entertainment rather than general-purpose use. This pick is for the frequent flyer or the best over ear headphones user who prioritizes audio fidelity and shared movie experiences.
The Ugreen Airplane adapter is built for the minimalist who refuses to carry unnecessary gear. Weighing just 30 grams and measuring a mere 2.12 by 1 inch, it disappears into a pocket or pouch without adding bulk. Its core appeal lies in its versatility; unlike many adapters that are locked into a single mode, this unit functions as both a transmitter and a receiver. You can send audio from your phone to old speakers via the 3.5mm aux input, or pull audio from a non-Bluetooth TV or treadmill and push it wirelessly to your headphones. This flexibility makes it an ideal tool for the commuter who moves between the car stereo, the gym, and the living room without wanting to swap cables or devices.
For those seeking the best kids headset for glasses wearers, the lightweight nature of this device matters. While it does not attach directly to glasses, its small footprint means it sits comfortably near the ear without creating pressure points or slipping off easily during movement. The Bluetooth 5.2 connection offers a stable link up to 10 meters, which is sufficient for most indoor and short-range travel scenarios. However, users should note that the battery provides 27 hours of playtime, which is solid but lacks the pass-through charging feature found in some competitors. If you plan on a 20-hour international flight, you will need to charge it before departure or rely on its battery capacity alone, as you cannot listen while plugging it into power.
This product is best suited for people who value adaptability over specialized features. If you own a mix of older audio equipment—like a treadmill console or a car system with only an aux port—and want to modernize them wirelessly, the Ugreen Airplane is the logical choice. It is also perfect for travelers who prioritize weight savings above all else. However, if you are looking for high-fidelity audio codecs specifically designed for aviation screens or the ability to share a single movie screen with a partner using two pairs of headphones, this device falls short of those specific needs.

The Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr is engineered specifically for the modern air traveler who demands quality and convenience. Unlike generic adapters, this unit leverages a Qualcomm chipset with aptX Adaptive and aptX HD support. For anyone using high-end wireless headphones, this distinction is critical; it ensures that the audio signal retains its detail and clarity even when transmitted wirelessly from the airline's seat-back screen. The device is built with a durable metal enclosure in a sky blue finish, signaling a focus on longevity and a premium feel compared to standard plastic alternatives. It is designed to plug directly into the 3.5mm headphone jacks found on almost all commercial aircraft, complete with a dual-prong airline adapter to fit various jack types.
A standout feature for couples or families traveling together is the dual-pairing capability. You can connect two sets of Bluetooth headphones or earbuds to the same source simultaneously. This turns a solitary experience into a shared one, allowing two passengers to watch the same in-flight movie without needing a splitter or fighting over volume controls. The indicator lights help you confirm when each pair is connected, removing the guesswork during boarding. With a battery life of up to 25 hours, it covers even the longest long-haul routes. Furthermore, the USB-C pass-through charging allows you to keep the device plugged into the plane's power outlet while listening, ensuring you never run out of juice mid-movie.
This adapter is the clear winner for those who prioritize audio fidelity and specific travel features. It is particularly well-suited for the best over ear headphones for glasses wearers because the combination of a secure connection and high-quality codec support minimizes latency and distortion, which can be distracting when wearing frames that press against the ear cups. However, its utility is narrower than the Ugreen alternative. It functions strictly as a transmitter for 3.5mm outputs and cannot receive audio from other sources. If you need to connect a phone to a speaker system or use it in a car stereo that lacks Bluetooth, this device will not work for you. It is a specialist tool for aviation and analog-to-digital conversion, nothing more.
• Best for battery life and continuous use → Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr, thanks to USB-C pass-through charging that lets you listen while plugged into a wall or plane power.
• Best for multi-device versatility → Ugreen Airplane, which works as both a transmitter and receiver for cars, TVs, and gym equipment.
• Best for shared movie watching → Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr, as it supports connecting two Bluetooth headsets to a single source simultaneously.
• Best for weight and portability → Ugreen Airplane, weighing only 30 grams with a tiny plastic form factor that fits anywhere.
• Best for audio quality on flights → Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr, utilizing aptX Adaptive technology to preserve sound fidelity from the airline screen.
• Best for general home and car use → Ugreen Airplane, offering broader compatibility beyond just airplane seat jacks.
• Best for durability and build → Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr, featuring a metal enclosure versus the plastic body of the Ugreen model.
• Best for simple, button-based control → Both offer physical controls, but the Ugreen uses push buttons while the Avantree combines touch and button controls for a slightly more modern interface.
After analyzing the specifications and real-world use cases, I would personally buy the Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr for my next trip. While the Ugreen Airplane is a fantastic, lightweight multitasker, the Avantree's focus on aviation-specific features like dual-pairing and aptX Adaptive support addresses the actual pain points of flying with headphones. The ability to share a movie with a partner and the assurance of high-quality audio transmission make it worth the extra bulk. For anyone looking for the best over ear headphones for glasses wearers who travels frequently, the comfort of a secure, high-fidelity connection combined with the practicality of pass-through charging is the superior choice.
Yes, the Ugreen Airplane works as a transmitter for airplane screens, but it lacks the dual-pairing feature and aptX Adaptive codec support found in the Avantree, which may result in lower audio fidelity or less convenience for sharing content.
You can use it with a car stereo that has a 3.5mm auxiliary output, but it is designed primarily as a transmitter for analog outputs, so it cannot function as a receiver to bring Bluetooth audio into a car that already has Bluetooth.
The Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr is superior for long flights because it supports pass-through charging, allowing you to listen indefinitely while plugged into a power source, whereas the Ugreen relies solely on its internal battery capacity.
Both devices are external transmitters that do not interfere with glasses, but the Avantree's premium build and stable connection are often preferred by users who find certain headphones uncomfortable when paired with frames, ensuring a secure fit during long sessions.
