The purpose of the RBC Excellence in Instruction and Mentoring Award is to recognize graduate students who display excellence in teaching and mentorship. This award recognizes graduate students who make a significant impact on student learning, either in the classroom or the laboratory.
This award celebrates students who go above and beyond in their teaching and mentoring to make a positive impact on their students' education and lives.
RBC graduate students pursuing a MS or PhD and mentoring at least one undergraduate student or serving as an instructor/teaching assistant in at least one course are eligible for this award.
Eligible students will submit an application packet with the following information:

Statement of Achievement: Provides details regarding graduate student's achievements as an instructor/mentor and how they have positively influenced the education and lives of undergraduate students. Two page maximum, single spaced
Curriculum Vitae
Evidence of Teaching/Mentor Effectiveness: Additional evidence of effectiveness such as undergraduate abstracts, undergraduate awards, teaching evidence such as evaluations, teaching data, letters of recommendation from students or instructors, etc.
Each PI may nominate up to two graduate students per year for this award. By submitting a nomination, the PI agrees to serve on an RBC Award Evaluation Committee if requested.
