DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES:
The Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Education. Offered through the College of Education, this is a 15-hour (minimum) program designed for math PhD students. You can take courses in educational psychology, technology in the classroom, curriculum development, and more.
The Interdisciplinary Certificate in University Teaching. Offered through the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, the completion of this certificate involves coursework, the teaching of four courses, the completion of a teaching project, and the creation of a teaching portfolio.
Get involved with The Mathematics Educator. Since 1990, this math education journal has been run by students primarily in the Department of Mathematics Education at UGA. They are always looking for referees and editors!
The Mathematics Active Learning Team (MALT) seminar. This seminar meets every two weeks. Participants discuss active learning strategies and share ideas and materials to use in the classroom. Contact Malcolm Adams for more information.
