Zero Acre Farms, Bioanalytical Scientist I & II (2021-2024)
Katie got started in science working on the foraging ecology of bats as an undergraduate. She then transitioned to engineering solutions for aqueous pollutant remediation using biologically-modified inorganic materials and directed evolution in her doctoral work. Before transitioning to UGA, she worked as a bioanalytical chemist for a Bay Area biotech startup focused on creating sustainable culinary oils. In this role, she built and managed cross-functional teams, as well as performed cutting-edge research on undomesticated organisms. As an academic and former industry scientist, she is passionate about helping students navigate these worlds so they can make their mark in the world.Â
