Purpose
The purpose of Special Olympics College is to unite local Special Olympic athletes with University of Florida Students through sport to help enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, building a more accepting world for all.
2023 World Games
In June of 2023, the University of Florida's Unified basketball team traveled to Berlin, Germany to compete in the 2023 Special Olympics World Games. The team had the chance to explore Bremen and Bremerhaven as their host towns before heading into Berlin to start the games! Our basketball team brought home 4th place in the competition! Not only did our team get to represent the University of Florida on the international stage, but they were able to make friendships with athletes all around the world!
2022 USA Games
In June of 2022, the University of Florida Unified flag football team competed at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. The team competed in a week-long tournament and brought home bronze after many long days in the sun and tough games against athletes from all over the country! We are so proud of our flag-football team and the goals they have worked so hard to accomplish.
Race for Inclusion 2023
On December 2rd, 2023, UF Special Olympics hosted the third annual Special Olympics Florida Race for Inclusion 5k at Flavet Field. We raised over $82,000 to support Special Olympics Florida and had a tremendous day celebrating inclusion!

2022 Virtual College National Champions
In April 2022, UF Special Olympics was announced National Champions for the Special Olympics College Champ Week for the second year in a row. After a week of virtual challenges and events, UFSO accumulated the most points, winning the week.

Intramurals
UF Special Olympics partners with RecSports at the University of Florida to host Unified Intramurals. Our athletes and unified partners come together to play flag football and soccer.

Volunteering
UF Special Olympics members volunteer at local, area, and state Special Olympics Florida competitions. Opportunities to volunteer go on year-round and are a great way to get more involved with the mission of Special Olympics Florida.
