Our Research
Our current focus
Using fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, we would like to:
Develop in vivo platform to screen immunomodulatory and antibacterial activities of drug candidates in a rapid manner.
Explore uncharted pharmacological effects of drug candidates prior to further investigations in the mammalian system.
Investigate cellular and molecular events that have biological and medical significance in humans.
We are also involved in research dealing with host defense and responses against a diverse array of pathogens by using Drosophila and other available model systems. In addition to that, we are interested in the elucidation of mechanisms responsible for the sterile-mediated immune activation in metazoan species. In the long run, we are aiming to establish various in vivo model systems important in the elucidation of important biological mechanisms and the discovery of new entities with medicinal properties.
Additional interests
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, we also actively collaborate with several national and international researchers to explore different aspects of diseases.
