The Upper East Tennessee Early Mathematics Tournament is an annual tournament hosted by East Tennessee State University every year. This tournament services all elementary and middle schools within a 50 mile radius of the Main ETSU campus located in Johnson City, Tennessee.
What happens on tournament day:
On tournament day there are two main events, an individual and team event. For the 30-minute individual event all students and alternates on a team are allowed to participate. Tests will be scored to determine the highest scoring boy and girl for each grade level. For the 20-minute team event, students on a team will work collaboratively on a set of questions together to determine the top 10 teams.
Teams are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the tournament.
Tournament Groups:
Grades 4-6: Elementary School
Grades 6-8: Middle School
How to form your team(s):
Teams are composed of 5 students and up to 2 alternates can also be registered. Each school may limit their teams to 5 teams per school for the tournament. Teams are responsible for creating their own unique team name.
How to register your team(s):
To register a team please contact us at holleyv@etsu.edu. In addition to the team registration form sent from Virginia Holley, there is also a $75.00 registration fee per team. This registration fee allows ETSU to purchase all materials, reserve a location and equipment. Students will need to bring a bag lunch and snacks and bottle water will be provided for them.
Registration Deadline for 2019-2020 April 6th, 2020
