11th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE on 'URBAN e-PLANNING'
IJEPR & UEPNET 2027 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
[ VIRTUAL / ONLINE ]
Lisbon, Portugal, 5 - 9 April 2027
CALL FOR PAPERS
The International Conference on Urban e-Planning, the annual meeting of the Urban e-Planning Research Network (UEPNET), organized in collaboration with the International Journal of E-Planning Research (IJEPR), convenes its eleventh edition in 2027. The conference is held online, hosted from Lisbon, Portugal, from 5 to 9 April 2027.
Building on the sustained success of ten preceding conferences held between 2016 and 2026, the eleventh IJEPR International Conference on Urban e-Planning will continue to critically examine the ways in which digital transformation in urban planning can be harnessed to benefit society.
The conference brings together interdisciplinary research addressing innovative theoretical and practical developments in Urban e-Planning, including emerging methods and digital tools. In addition, the conference welcomes brief, practice-oriented presentations that highlight applied experience in the field.
The growing prevalence of digital innovations engenders both significant opportunities and considerable challenges for urban and regional planning practice worldwide.
We invite contributions examining the digital transformation, with particular emphasis on artificial intelligence, and its implications for urban planning and development.
The 11th International Conference on "Urban e-Planning" addresses, among other topics, the governance and planning of smart cities; the impacts of artificial intelligence on urban e-governance; contemporary trends in citizen e-participation in planning processes; the intersections of urban e-planning with social, cultural, economic, and environmental dimensions, including climate change, biodiversity loss, the virtual economy, and emergency preparedness and response; critical perspectives on decolonizing urban e-planning; and pedagogical considerations for the future education of urban planners.
We welcome theoretical and empirical submissions on, but not limited to, the following themes (see details here >):
Track 1. Smart Urban Governance and e-Planning
Track 2. Artificial Intelligence, Urban E-Planning, and the Governance of Smart Cities
