Access

By Train

The Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station is the most convenient way to visit Ueda.

It is also possible to come from Nagoya Station via Nagano using the Chuo Line.

If you are coming from Osaka, you can take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Kanazawa via the Hokuriku Line, or you can go to Tokyo and take the Hokuriku Shinkansen.

By car

From Tokyo, take the Kan-etsu Expressway and get on the Joshin-etsu Expressway at Fujioka JCT. From the Ueda Sugadaira Interchange, exit to the public road, which leads to the downtown Ueda area.

From Nagoya, take the Chuo Expressway and enter the Nagano Expressway at Okaya JCT. At Koshoku JCT, take the Joshin-etsu Expressway toward Tokyo, and get off the expressway at Ueda Sugadaira Interchange to connect to downtown Ueda.

By Airplane (Domestic)

Nagano Prefecture has Shinshu Matsumoto Airport, but access from this airport to Ueda takes about 2 hours, which is not much different from access from Haneda Airport to Ueda. Considering the abundance of flights, we recommend access from Haneda Airport via Tokyo.

Lodging Information

There are several business hotels in front of Ueda Station, but we recommend that you make reservations for lodging as early as possible, as they are expected to be fully booked around the time of the anomaly.

There is a hot spring resort called Bessho Onsen nearby, so it would be a good strategy to enjoy a hot spring bath together with anomaly.
