August 5th 2017

I went to the Undon Thani International Airport with my parents and my friend for sending me to Indonesia. I felt so sad that I have to leave from my home, my friends and my parents about 1 month for me it’s very a longtime.

When I arrived the Don Maung International Airport, It’s much crowed because of the foreigners. I waited to take off about 2 hours for going Indonesia and this is the first time to go aboard but I didn’t feel excited or scare. On the airplane, Most of passengers are Indonesian and welcome to Indonesian because most of them spoke Indonesian language that I can’t understand what they said.

Finally, I and Tan (my friend who will go to the same university) arrived the Sukano Hatta International Airport. This airport is very huge and disordered. The fight landed in terminal 2 so we had to find terminal 1A for taking off in the fight to Banjarmasin where the university is located. The host from UHAMKA who picked up Mon and Jan told that we had to take free shutter bus from terminal 2 to terminal 1A. People in here are so kind and when I carried on the heavy bags they want to help me for carrying my bag.

The fight to Banjarmasin was delayed about 2 hour so I arrived in this town about midnight. Syariff and Kiki (buddies who from the UNLAM) picked up us to dormitory.

August 6th 2017

I woke up at 8 AM because some buddies had to pick us up for having traditional breakfast. This is the first time that I ate the Indonesian food. This food is chicken and noddle serve with rice. This food is so delicious. At 7 PM our buddies brought most of exchange students for having dinner in the traditional food too. This foods are Sake with chicken and Nasi sup. In Indonesia Nasi means rice and Sup is the soup. And the last one is Pisang Keju. Pisang Keju made with banana with chocolate and cheese. Especially, Pisang Keju is so testy!

August 8th 2017

This is the first day for going to my school that I have to observation in 1^st week, TA in 2^nd week and teaching in 3^rd week. This is the SMP1 and this school is junior school (Grade 7-9). Today, just introduction to head master and talk about the details about my project and school.

August 9th 2017

The second day for going to school. Today I have to observation grade 7. My mentor is Ms.Ishlah who is the teacher student from UNLAM and she will help me anything if I have the problems. In the morning, we have to the teachers, head master of SMP1

There are normal classroom. Teacher is try to speak English with the students and sometime the students can’t understand what a teacher or I said. I think it’s so hard to teach because I can’t speak or understand Indonesian too but there are not the classroom that I have to teach.

August 10th 2017

Today is the third day for going school and the second day for observation. I observed grade 7I and 7G. Before the class, my mentor gave me for checking the students in class 7I. The Indonesian name of students are very hard to pronounce and I can’t spell the right name of student hahaha but students helped me for spelling their right name. Students in 7I is so cute and quit smart because they can understand English and when they finished a task that teacher gave, they helped the students who can’t understand the content and tough their friends. Some students wasn’t shy for asking me about content that they learned.

In afternoon class, I observed in class 7G. I thought students in this room pay attention to me more than their teacher because maybe they’re excited to see foreigner like me. They wanted to take a photos with me and asked my Instagram account all the time in the class. After the class teacher and Muslim students prayed together before they went home.

After school, our buddied took us for going Duta mall. Duta mall is the biggest shopping mall in Banjarmasin (I guess). It looks like Central Plaza in Thailand and this mall has many thing and many shops for shopping. While I were waiting my friends for shopping, I called to my mother and my nephew in Thailand. I miss mother so much and Thailand so much and she made me cry so I decide that I’ll not call her anymore because every time that I talk with my parents, it make me cry all the time.

August 11th 2017

Today is the fourth day for going school. I had to observation again like every day but every Friday will finish the class in 10.30 or 11.00 AM so today I just observed only 1 class. This class is 7D. The students are so cute. They saw me and my friends standing behind the class for a long so they gave their chairs to us for sitting. I love the students in this class and every time I’ve walked pass their classroom I like to call me Ms.Tanyong or Hello Ms.Tanyong. They can remember my nickname and called me every time that see me.

August 12th 2017

In Thailand today is Mother’s day but I had to go to school. I woke up at 5 AM like every day in Thailand around 4 PM so it made me so tied but today is the last day of this week because tomorrow is the weekend!. Today I observed 7F. In this class students are determined to learn. Some students sat on the floor in front of the class while teacher was teaching. How cute they are! After class my mentor gave me for choosing the rooms that I had to be TA and teach. I chose 7D, 7F, 7I. Because they didn’t pay attention me while their teacher was teaching and they didn’t ask my Instagram account. This is the reason why I chose to teach these room.

I and my friend who came from Ayuthaya and teach English like me had to teach 8I because every after school on Saturday this room have story telling class so our mentor want us to tell story telling every Saturday. 8I classroom is the special classroom that selecting by test for choosing smart and intelligent students and this class room is so different from anther rooms. I and my friend chose the Indonesian story for telling students. After telling story we gave 5 questions for answering. Students in this classroom are so smart and so cute. They can understand the story and understand what we said.

Tonight our buddies gave us for hanging out in Saturday night. Every Saturday night is so a lot of people to came center of Banjarmasin town for having diner or playing sport like basketball or just chilling. We went to take a pictures with the Bakantan statue feeling like the Merlion in Singapore but in here this is a mangy and had diner together.
