Take the Pledge!
No donations to UD until divestment from weapons manufacturing, Israeli apartheid and fossil fuels.
No donations to UD until divestment from weapons manufacturing, Israeli apartheid and fossil fuels.
In solidarity with a growing number of college students calling for divestment across the US, we call upon the University of Delaware to address its complicity in the current genocide of Palestinians. We add to this the urgency to address the climate crisis, only exacerbated by the United States' role in providing weapons of war for genocide and ecocide. We stand firmly demanding the university to divest from the companies and organizations that actively exacerbate and fund the ongoing community harm caused by both issues.
Specifically, we call for:
An end to grants issued to weapons manufacturers and defense contractors, including Raytheon, Joby Aero, and Spirit Aerosystems Inc.
An end to the partnership with fossil fuels and weapons funder JP Morgan Chase, as well as a divestment from UD’s $37 million investment in oil and gas.
An end to the cooperation with and internal sale of products explicitly listed on the BDS Movement boycott list, including, but not limited to, Starbucks and Sodastream.
An end to Northern Trust’s partial management of UD’s endowment– A firm who funds weapons manufacturer and BDS Boycott company Elbit Systems.
In light of the upcoming I Heart UD Giving Day campaign on Wednesday, May 1, we are asking all UD alumni to withhold donations to the University of Delaware, until the university agrees with and meets student demands in divesting from these harmful corporations, the Israeli apartheid state, and the climate crisis.
Alumni, please join us by taking the pledge to announce that you will not be donating to UD on I Heart UD Giving Day this year, and show solidarity and support for those in Palestine, as well as those actively feeling the effects of the climate crisis.
