Biography:

Udai Pratap Rao has received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from S.V. National Institute of Technology, Surat in 2014. He is currently associated with S.V. National Institute of Technology, Surat as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer engineering. He joined the institute in August 2007 and since then he has been associated with SVNIT. His research interests include Information Security & Privacy, Location-based Privacy, Data Mining, Big Data Analytics, and Distributed Computing. Methodologies that promote interdisciplinary education are also of his great interest.

He has published extensively in journals and refereed conference proceedings. He has about 55 peer-reviewed research publications in his area of expertise. He has supervised 02 PhD and 37 M.Tech dissertations till date. He is the Chief Investigator of ongoing project "Information Security Education and Awareness Project Phase II" since July 2018 onwards which is funded by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) , at SVNIT Surat. He has also been a Principal Investigator (PI) for the research proposal worth of Rs. 9.10 lakh under institute research grant funded by SVNIT. He is always enthusiastic to supervise M.Tech and Ph.D candidates especially those who are willing to work in his research area. He has served the department in capacity of PG In-charge (M.Tech coordinator) for more than 8 years. Getting first NBA (National Board of Accreditation) accreditation of M.Tech programme is one of the major achievements to the department under his tenure as a PG In-charge. He has been actively involved in other administrative duties at institute and department level. He is currently working as Professor-In-Charge Computing & Networking Facility of Institute since 08 April 2019 and Coordinator- ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) since 7th May 2019.

He delivered a number of keynote and plenary lectures at several national and international conferences. He has also delivered a number of "distinguished lectures" at various Institutes. He has conducted many STTPs on various topics like big data analytics, security, and privacy issues. He organised a workshop on “Privacy in Location-Based Services” in Conjunction with International Conference on Wireless, Intelligent, and Distributed Environment for COMmunication (WIDECOM 2019), University of Milan, Italy, February 11-13, 2019. He was awarded with National Scholarship from 10th Std. till Graduation given to meritorious students by the Uttar Pradesh state board.
