The focal point of the workshop was an intellectual exchange that took place between public finance economists and econometricians, particularly in relation to Whitney Newey’s provocatively titled paper (“The bunching estimator cannot identify the taxable income elasticity,” circulated as a working paper by NBER and CESifo).
