Rho Psi Eta is the only pre-health academic sorority at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Founded in 2007, Rho Psi Eta both embraces and upholds our pillars of academic integrity, community service, and sisterhood. We strive to help our young women pursue their interests and goals in the healthcare professions.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

Academic integrity is a cornerstone of Rho Psi Eta's values. As a community of scholars, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of honesty, ethics, and accountability in all of our academic pursuits. We strive to uphold these values by always working diligently and with integrity in our studies, assignments, and exams. Since many of our members are taking the same classes, there's always someone by your side to study with, ask for advice, or lean on for support.

SERVICE

Rho Psi Eta believes in the power of community service to make a positive impact on the world around us. As sisters, we are committed to giving back to our communities and helping those in need. Each year we offer free CPR certification, help out at local soup kitchens, and work with other organizations in our communities to display our commitment to this pillar.

SISTERHOOD

A strong sense of sisterhood is fostered among all members. Within Rho Psi Eta, sisterhood means that every member feels welcomed, supported, and encouraged by one another. These bonds are built through social events like beach bonfires, nature walks, and craft nights! Not to mention the countless study sessions, and late nights together in the library. Our girls love looking forward to big events like the pumpkin patch, winter formal, and senior banquet.

Shreya Lakshmanan

Hi everyone! My name is Shreya Lakshmanan, and I am honored to serve as the President of Rho Psi Eta, and to introduce you to the chapter that has felt like home to me since my first year at UCSB.

Rho Psi Eta has truly changed my college experience for the better, and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of women to serve as my mentors, friends, biggest supporters, and sisters throughout all the ups and downs of pursuing a career in healthcare. The women in Rho Psi Eta constantly inspire me, and being surrounded by such driven and compassionate individuals has encouraged me to take on new leadership roles, step outside of my comfort zone, and grow personally in ways I never could have imagined when I first joined.

One of the things I value most about Rho Psi Eta is the environment it creates for its members. This chapter has given me a safe space where I feel heard, represented, and supported while being surrounded by an incredibly diverse group of women with different backgrounds, experiences, interests, and goals. I have learned so much from my sisters, not only about healthcare and academics, but also about leadership, friendship, and who I want to be as a person.

Rho Psi Eta has also given me a balance between academics and sisterhood that I struggled to find elsewhere. Pursuing a future in healthcare can be stressful and demanding, but this chapter has reminded me of the importance of creating time for myself and the people around me. Whether we are supporting each other academically, serving our community, celebrating one another’s accomplishments, or simply spending time together as friends, Rho Psi Eta has shown me that success does not have to come at the expense of connection and community.

I am incredibly grateful for everything Rho Psi Eta has given me, and I am so excited for the opportunity to give back to the chapter that has given so much to me. I cannot wait to see what this next year brings for our sisterhood and to welcome the future members of Rho Psi Eta!
