About us

Meet the young women of Rho Psi Eta, UCSB's only pre-health, academic sorority. You’ll find girls who are diverse in their backgrounds, personalities, and interests — but what unites us all is our passion for healthcare. We’re composed of future doctors, nurses, veterinarians, physician’s assistants, occupational therapists, optometrists, and so much more. Think of any field in healthcare and there is a Rho Psi Eta girl making waves in that industry.

We have one annual rush period during the start of fall quarter. We're looking for members who have the altruism and motivation needed to serve in the health field, as well as the interest in being an active, contributing sister of Rho Psi Eta.

Philanthropy

In past years (before 2020), Rho Psi Eta has hosted a philanthropy event with Operation Smile.  Their mission is to repair childhood facial deformities by delivering safe, effective surgery and related medical care directly to patients. They also work to reduce the occurrence of cleft palates and cleft lips by training doctors in partner to treat local populations.

To raise money for this, we have hosted a 5K Run/Walk called "Miles for Smiles." 

After resuming normal operations after COVID, Rho Psi began partnering with Domestic Violence Solutions in Santa Barbara, which provides safety, shelter, and support for individuals and families affected by domestic violence and collaborates with community partners to raise awareness regarding the cause, prevalence and impact. In restarting our philanthropy, we’ve established a donation drive where we collect donations of food, hygiene products, activities for children, and more to help support women and families in need. This past year, we re-established our 5K Run/Walk event as “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” to raise money for this cause. 

In recent years, the need for domestic violence services continues to grow. Economic pressures, housing instability, and the impacts of federal

activities have intensified the barriers many survivors face when seeking help. DVS provides emergency shelter, counseling, housing, education and case management to thousands of individuals and families across Santa Barbara County.
