About LPP

Application for permanent positions will re-open at the discretion of the current staff! Please email us with your questions.

The mission of the Latina/o Play Project is to empower students with the opportunity to engage in learning and growth through observing, studying, and performing (on stage and/or backstage) Latina/o theater while touching topics that are affecting us in the world today.

We started in 2015 as an ensemble of UCR students that brought Latina/o theatre and film to the community of Riverside while addressing topics that are happening in the world today.

Our goal is to bring Latina/o Theatre and Films to both the UCR community and the city of Riverside, reflecting the people and history of the Inland Empire and California through the public presentation of great works by prominent Latina/o playwrights. The Tomas Rivera Endowed Chair and Professor of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production, Dr. Tiffany López, who we owe so much to our success, was our first faculty supervisor and founding Artistic Director. Dr. Jaffe-Berg has stepped in to help us continue bringing Art, Film, and Theatre to the Riverside community.

Once every quarter, we will perform a staged reading at the Culver Center of the Arts as part of UCR ARTSblock, in Downtown Riverside. We are also partnering with our LGBT Resource Center on campus for a quarterly film screening series, presenting works about Latina/o LGBT youth and individuals.
