In 2024, MODO's annual fashion show adopted the theme "ethereal"; a concept defined by a heavenly, light, soft, and divinely beautiful atmosphere.
13 designers took on the design brief to create their own unique collections inspired by the theme "ethereal". Concepts ranged from references to the far past, and far off future, the interaction of humans with the natural world, a critique of ideals of purity, and even a camp exploration of femininity in the Rococo era.
Each collection exhibited an individual approach to both design and construction. Collections such as that of Jannah and Ruiwen's incorporated the addition of foreign objects into garments such as seashells and watches. Mehak, Nara and Suruthi, as well as Hanna's collections experimented with traditional techniques of draping to create heavenly silhouettes and textures. Gareth and Darryl's collection pushes the boundaries of fashion innovation by crafting garments through 3D production, using a variety of materials.
Taking place at the glamorous Tab Centre in Shoreditch, the show proved to be a great success for the society; incorporating dance performances with the spectacular fashion show.
Lastly, MODO would like to extend a special thanks to the event sponsors Grays, a small family run beauty business specialising in formulas for sensitive skin, and Pernoire, a leading entity in the experimental fragrance world, helping customers transform through the power of perfume.
