Here at MODO, we believe no conversation about fashion is complete without acknowledging the enormous impact of the industry on our planet.
We believe sustainability encompasses both humanitarian and environmental dimensions and advocate for justice on both fronts.
We strive to educate our members on the ills of the fashion industry by including an element of consciousness into everything we do.
Our commitments include:
EVENTS: Hosting industry leaders and sustainable start-ups to share their expertise. We are also planning upcycling workshops
and thrifting days with members of MODO. During the incoming thrifting socials, photoshoots are planned to promote greener ways of shopping! We are excited to announce that MODO is part of the UCL Sustainability week, and will be showcasing a fashion show with sustainable clothes.
JOURNALISM: Publishing a magazine with designated segments to explore sustainability & diversity within the industry, in particular with
articles on recycling and giving a second life to clothes.
DESIGN: Recommending all designers to incorporate elements of a recycled/sustainable textile into their collections.
We are also proud to announce our collaboration with three amazing charities this year:
Fashion revolution - the world's largest fashion activism movement, mobilising citizens, brands and policymakers through research, education and advocacy.
Slow Factory Foundation - focuses on decolonising the fashion industry; “addressing the intersecting crises of climate justice and social inequity — filling the gap for climate adaptation and preparedness, building community power through open education, narrative change and regenerative design.”
SOS UK - (Students Organising for Sustainability UK | SOS-UK ) a student-led education charity focusing on sustainability
