Our projects are developed through the American Society of Civil Engineers Sustainable Solutions Competition, where we design real-world infrastructure solutions that balance engineering performance, sustainability, and community impact.
2025-2026 Project: Valley Connect
A next-generation data center in Yolo County, designed for sustainability, resilience, and harmony with the Putah Creek ecosystem
Each year, our team develops a comprehensive proposal that reflects the full scope of a real-world engineering consulting project. From early planning to final presentation, our work combines technical design, sustainability, and communication.
Technical Design Proposal
A detailed report outlining our site design, engineering decisions, system layouts, and supporting calculations. This includes considerations like infrastructure, water systems, energy use, and overall feasibility.
Sustainability Analysis (Envision Framework)
We evaluate our project using the Envision sustainability framework, focusing on areas such as resource efficiency, environmental impact, community benefits, and long-term resilience.
Site Design & Engineering Calculations
Development of a full site plan supported by engineering analysis, including stormwater management, grading, and system sizing to ensure our design is both practical and effective.
3D Modeling & Visualization
Creation of a detailed 3D model to visualize the site, communicate design intent, and provide a virtual walkthrough of key features and systems.
Cost Estimate & Feasibility
A preliminary construction cost estimate that reflects real-world constraints, helping ensure our design is economically viable as well as technically sound.
Final Presentation to Industry Judges
A professional presentation where we pitch our proposal to a panel of industry professionals, simulating a real client interview and demonstrating both our technical work and communication skills.
Our projects address real-world challenges such as energy demand,
water scarcity, and sustainable development—preparing students to
design solutions that make a meaningful impact.
