Sung Hwan Joo is an assistant professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the Texas A&M International University and a faculty research affiliate in UC CYBORG. His research explores the human elements of cybercrime and cybersecurity, focusing on individual differences and behavioral patterns in cyber deviance. His work particularly focuses on populations traditionally underrepresented in criminological research, including older adults and Asian communities. His dissertation examines the mediating role of cyber deviance in Korean adolescents' strain coping through the lens of General Strain Theory (GST). His recent work appears in Crime & Delinquency and the Journal of Developmental and Life-Course Criminology.
