The University of Cincinnati Cybercrime and Behavior Online Research Group (CYBORG) was founded in the fall of 2022 by Dr. Joseph Nedelec Ph.D. The purpose of this research group is to facilitate an environment in which Ph.D. students could engage with, and conduct, student led research on cybercrime, online deviancy, and related topics. Since its inception, CYBORG has quickly grown beyond its original six Ph.D. student members and is now inclusive of both masters and undergraduate students across various disciplines at the University of Cincinnati.

Beginning in the summer of 2024, undergraduate students are able to participate in CYBORG in partial fulfillment of course credits as part of the Social Science Research Undergraduate Certificate. In this role, undergraduate students may engage in research across varying the varying domains of CYBORG. CYBORG is currently open to any University of Cincinnati undergraduate and graduate students regardless of previous experience in research or technical skills.
The University of Cincinnati Cybercrime and Behavior Online Research Group (CYBORG) conducts student led research in a variety of areas related to cybercrime and online deviancy. On a typical project, a Ph.D. student propose, and conducts research and may supervise masters and undergraduate research assistants. Undergraduate research assistants can engage in research in a variety of roles including data entry, analysis and manuscript creation.
