Introduction: The Applied Research Work Group is pleased to announce that funding has been secured for new seed grant proposals to be funded in 2020-2021. This is the seventh round of funding for this program. In the initial rounds, we were open to ideas that helped the University of California plan to bend its emissions curve, as well as specific research to get started on the ambitious goal. The next round of seed funding will have a special emphasis on applied research to assist UC transition away from the use of natural gas in its operations, as outlined in the next section. Nonetheless, all proposals to bend UC’s climate emissions curve will be considered, with a secondary emphasis in offsets research..
