It allows you to download a World Wide Web site from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer. HTTrack arranges the original site's relative link-structure. Simply open a page of the "mirrored" website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.

This article describes how to make Web pages available for offline viewing using Internet Explorer 5. When you make a Web page available offline, you can read its content when your computer is not connected to the Internet.

NOTE: Some Web sites use HTTP headers or META tags within a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) or Active Server Pages (ASP) document itself, to prevent their contents from being stored in your disk cache (Temporary Internet Files). In this case, the Make available offline and Synchronize options may appear to work, but the Web site content is not stored in your disk cache. As a result, the site is unavailable for offline viewing. For example, after you click the Make available offline option and then synchronize your Outlook.com inbox, you are unable to view your Outlook.com inbox offline.

For a New Offline Web Page:

When you make a new Web page available for offline viewing, click Customize in the Add Favorite dialog box to start the Offline Favorite Wizard. The Offline Favorite Wizard can be used to configure the following settings:

The "Does this site require a password?" option enables you to specify a user name and password for the offline Web page if it is required. The user name and password are automatically provided when Internet Explorer synchronizes the Web page.

For an Existing Offline Web Page: To customize an existing offline Web page, click Organize Favorites on the Favorites menu, click the offline Web page you want to modify, and then click Properties. You can specify the following settings:

Synchronization Items tab: You can specify the network connection to use for the selected schedule. You can also select which offline Web pages to synchronize with this schedule. Internet Explorer can also automatically connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to synchronize your Web pages.

The "Download pages links deep from this page" setting enables you to specify how many links deep Internet Explorer should download Web pages for offline use. You can choose to follow links outside of the page's Web site and limit the amount of hard disk space allocated to the Web page. You can also specify what type of content to download or omit from your Web pages by clicking the Advanced button.

NOTE: When you choose to work offline, Internet Explorer always starts in Offline mode until you click Work Offline on the File menu to clear the check mark.

Private Browsing does not save your browsing information, such as history and cookies, and leaves no trace after you end the session. By default, when you browse in private windows, you're shielded from third-party cookies and content trackers. Our Anti-Tracking Policy reflects our commitment to protecting your privacy and keeping you secure. Firefox also has Enhanced Tracking Protection, which prevents hidden trackers from collecting your data across multiple sites and slowing down your browsing.

Better you just start a small http server on your PC and give them your IP so they just can enter it in their browser and view the files directly. However like this they have direct (read-only) control of the files and can download them.Additionally they need to go through the slides by themselves. Alternetively just give the files for download.

If you really want to go crazy you can make a simple app that will use web browser control to display your content to the end user and take full control by disabling context menus and navigation, but make sure you enable java script execution. This way there is no clicking back button, no right clicking, no saving pages...

I use Evernote all day, every day and Paper seems like it would be a great (possibly better) alternative. But I need a Mac version that can run offline (planes, client sites without internet access, etc.).

Please make Paper use document standards (eg, Markdown or a variant), and let *me* dictate the tools I use for it offline. Make Paper documents appear in my Dropbox folder tree, not force me to have to use another system, and generate exports to get to my data.

I have built an offline app that uses this technique and works well in every browser, however I have experienced the same issue as you on IE11 on Windows Phone 8.1 too. I wrote about this problem here: -phone-8-1-preview-developers/274574-91.htm#post2585711

There's one workaround I've found - load the page, bookmark it (and pin to the homepage if you want), quit the browser, go into flight mode, and then re-open the browser and load up the page using your bookmark only. It should load the site OK. Just don't hit refresh - it seems to be the refresh function that kills it.

Is this what you suggested by PWA ?

And will it allow me to launch the project 100% offline?

In this article, we learned about how we can make PWAs installable with a properly-configured web manifest, and how the user can then install the PWA with the "add to home screen" feature of their browser.

From there you can add a second file, a service worker javascript script, where you can add network rules on how the application will fetch files, how it will store them on cache and when it will prefer to serve a cached file instead of re-downloading. This way you may be able to achieve a fully offline experience.

Is it possible to use Nextcloud in a browser while offline? I know I can sync my files and access them from my file explorer, but I would like to use the Nextcloud document editor instead of a different Windows app. As far as I can see, there is no true Nextcloud client like Android and iOS have, just a file sync app, unless I'm missing something.

Setting up offline access through a browser starts a process that copies mailbox data locally into a web database storage location. This is determined by the browser, and is typically a file or set of files on disk. For example, at the time this post was written, IE10 and Chrome browsers used the following file locations for their web database storage (on Windows):

The data stored for offline use is accessible through the Windows user account under which it is enabled, and is not encrypted. Like the other files on the computer, the best way to protect it is to use disk-level encryption such as Bitlocker.

By default, users are able to set up Outlook Web App 2013 for offline use. You can disable the ability for users in your organization to use Outlook Web App offline using the following Exchange Management Shell (EMS) commands:

If the network connection fails or is disabled while Outlook Web App is in use, users can continue working normally. Similarly, a user can start Outlook Web App when offline, such as on an airplane or in a caf without WiFi, and use it normally. Outlook Web App will appear without requiring that they sign in. The best way to get to Outlook Web App when offline is by using a favorite or bookmark. When Outlook Web App is set up for offline use, Internet Explorer will give the option of creating a favorite. The Favorite makes it easy to navigate to the right place. The only indication that the app is working offline will be a timestamp in the bottom corner of the Outlook Web App mail view indicating the last time that Outlook Web App was updated.

Hi Ralph, I got my client to open up both the stylesheet file and also the index.html file that are stored on his PC in notepad, copy and paste the contents into two separate emails, and send them to me (I thought it best not to ask them to send the files as attachments, incase, well, I dunno, just in case! The textual content of both of the files are exactly the same as a)the textual content of the live files out on the the internet, and b)identical to the ones that I have stored on my PC.

This has been going on for a few days now, i.e, I have spent a few hours over the last few days, trying this and trying that. They have tried a couple of different browsers between them (two different versions of IE, and FireFox), and they have been having similar problems. To repeat: The strangest thing is how can the pages look different online as opposed to offline, when the PC and browser viewing them is the same! Very strange!

An offline browser helps you browse the Web offline, cutting down on your Internet expenses. Think of it as a "save now, read later" tool but involving whole websites and all its internal layers and links. The contents will be downloaded and their resources cached, so that you can browse the website and its pages later, even without an Internet connection.

This is helpful, for instance, if you are a research student who may need to run experiments on-site where there is no Internet connection or if you are traveling to a foreign country and have limited Internet connectivity. You can save the research papers or travel guides you need and access them later via these offline browsers.

Here are ten of the best offline browsers out there. While some are premium software, our emphasis is on the versions that are available for free. Do note that most of these offline browsers work primarily for Windows although a couple works on other platforms as well. ff782bc1db
