Blindness is a Disability, Not Inability.

UBMA is working to build the first Islamic school for the blind in Sierra Leone.

Blind Muslims currently have little or no access to Islamic education, Qur’an in Braille, or support facilities.

This website is for transparency — to show project updates, receipts, and progress as the work continues.

In Sierra Leone, blind Muslims have no Islamic school to attend. The only schools available are Christian — and sadly, many of our blind brothers and sisters have ended up leaving Islam because of it.

That’s why this project began. In Kosson Town, Freetown, a group of 24 blind Muslims (now 22, after losing two members) — elders, youth, and lifelong advocates — came together and said:

“We need our own Islamic blind school.”

Their dream is now becoming reality: to build the first Islamic blind school in Sierra Leone, complete with:

• 🕌 A masjid

• 🛏 A boarding home

• 📖 Classrooms to teach Qur’an, Braille, and life skills

The land has been donated[Sept 2024]. Now we’re fundraising for the first stage: fencing. 

This is a long-term, ongoing project, and the fundraising will remain open as each phase is completed, inshaAllah.
