I just turned off AdBlock Plus in the Add-Ons screen and downloaded ublock origin to try it out. There is no icon for this new plug in to be found anywhere.I can manually go in and change the settings on this plugin in the add-ons screen but there is no icon anywhere to go in quicker or to show a report of how many items were blocked. When I try to Customize my toolbars, the icon is not available there either. The nearest threads I can find on this topic are from 2018 and their solutions are very basic use.Yes, of course I restarted the browser.TIA.

Something along the lines of: * siteX.tld 3p block (excuse syntax, just for sake of demo) sort of an inverse concept on say siteY.tld * 3p block where we are blocking 3p originating from to flipping it to blocking 3p destination to. Thoughts?

this addon was my lover addon , but after firefox create the new browser it become an old addon and cant run on new browser .

then i searched a new one until i found your and i like it very much but it dont give me what i was realy enjoy with .

How would you go about installing something like a browser extension like uBlock

Origin for firefox so it is available in all appqubes based on a specific

template but installing it requires internet access?

Alternatively you could download via a proxy, in the template, the .xpi

files of your firefox addons and try to install them system-wide (maybe

in /usr/lib/firefox-esr/browser/features/ on debian ?idk)

I've just upgraded to firefox 57.0-1. Seeing uBlock Origin's icon wasn't on the re-arranged Location Bar I upgraded the AUR package to firefox-ublock-origin 1.14.18-1. Stopping and starting Firefox still doesn't have the icon appear. Browsing loads large images and ads, i.e. it's impractical. The Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions page shows uBlock Origin with a Disable button.

U-block origin uses more CPU than you would think. It is not ideal for low powered computers. It is better to use the Adblock program in antiX to blacklist problematic IPs and also no-script to make web experience lighter.

You can always install ublock origin if needed with

 sudo apt install webext-ublock-origin

Which should install it and enable it for all firefox and chromium based browsers (I think).

I use yahoo mail for my personal email. With the built-in AntiX adblock, I still get ads in yahoo mail. When I use UBlock Origin, I do not get any ads. I use UBlock origin for Chromium and FF-ESR. There is a legacy UBlock origin that I use for both Palemoon and SeaMonkey.

I think what is happening is ublock is blocking the html window that the 1p extension makes on the website. Or what might be happening is since your using the same website to draw your password saving thing, the website's own javascript might conflict and cause it not to draw properly, or some combo of the above. When I tried making a new account on 1password.community for example, the 1p window did properly pop up.

Hey @mac232! 1Password can indeed run into issues with adblockers and anti-virus software. However, it depends on your set up. I myself have never had any issues with using uBlock origin and the 1Password extension in the same browser.

Oh I realize that we have patched firefox to use the MOZ_SYSTEM_DIR env var, which should point to a directory that contains plugins and extensions. Maybe we can make its value configurable in the firefox wrapper?

Firefox Account (because my son sometimes uses Firefox), uBlock origin, Bitwarden, Popup window - nice way to pop out some page into a very compact webapp.

@HotCakeX This happened because the original creator of uBlock Origin did not support Microsoft Edge (Legacy) and had no plans to port it at the time. Nik forked it and made changes to make it run on Edge. He was able to release his version to the store and kept it up-to-date for awhile but it sounds like he got very busy and it became difficult for him to keep up.

uBlock Origin (/jublk/; "YOO-block"[5]) (previously uBlock and originally Block) is a free and open-source browser extension for content filtering, including ad blocking. The extension is available for Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Firefox, Opera, Pale Moon, as well as versions of Safari prior to 13.[6] uBlock Origin has received praise from technology websites and is reported to be much less memory-intensive than other extensions[7][8] with similar functionality.[9][10] uBlock Origin's stated purpose is to give users the means to enforce their own (content-filtering) choices.[11][12]

Since October 2017, uBlock Origin has been completely separated from Aljoudi's uBlock.[21] Aljoudi created ublock.org to host and promote uBlock and to request donations. In response, uBlock's founder Raymond Hill stated that "the donations sought by ublock.org are not benefiting any of those who contributed most to create uBlock Origin."[6] The development of uBlock stopped in August 2015 but there were sporadic updates from January 2017.[22]

In July 2018, ublock.org was acquired by AdBlock and resumed development.[23] From February 2019, uBlock began allowing users to participate in "acceptable ads",[24][25] a program run by Adblock Plus that allows some ads deemed "acceptable" and nonintrusive, and for which larger publishers pay a fee.[26]

uBlock Origin remains independent and does not allow ads for payment.[27] The project refuses donations and instead advises supporters to donate to maintainers of block lists.[6][28] Hill continued to work on the extension under the name uBlock Origin, abbreviated as uBO[29] and originally as uBlock0.[30]

Popup filters can also be used to filter popunders. This was the case in the original implementation of popunder filtering, however this was removed eventually as this was causing too many false positives for popunders, causing legitimate tabs to be closed (#1010). The new solution is to still filter popunders according to existing popup filters, but to disregard popup filters which are too broad. Cases for which a popunder cannot be taken care by an existing popup filter, an explicit popunder filter should be used.

Update: There is now a companion extension for uBlock Origin, which will restore the ability of uBlock Origin to see/filter WebSocket connection attempts: -origin-websocket/pgdnlhfefecpicbbihgmbmffkjpaplco. e24fc04721
