This workshop, organized by PhD students from Law and Political Science at the Universitat de Barcelona, provides an opportunity for early-career scholars to connect and exchange insights on their research. The event aims to foster meaningful discussions among doctoral and early-career researchers on the pressing challenges of inequality in contemporary society.
We welcome proposals that engage with issues of inequality from diverse methodological perspectives—quantitative, qualitative, and theoretical. The workshop covers a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:
Policy and/or judicial responsiveness to inequality
Political participation, representation, and/or engagement
Access to the public administration and/or the justice system
Dynamics of power, influence, and access to public services and/or resources
The principle of equality in private law
Communication and inclusive language
If you are working on any of the aforementioned topics, related areas of research or if you consider that your work could be of interest for the workshop, please consider applying for this opportunity.
This is an in-person, one-day workshop held at the Faculty of Law at the Universitat de Barcelona. Each session will include both junior and senior discussants, followed by collective discussions and feedback from fellow panelists. Selected participants are required to submit a draft paper, prepare a 15-minute presentation, and act as a junior discussant for one of their peers’ presentations. This format ensures that each presenter benefits from feedback from both a senior expert and a junior colleague.
Funding is available for up to two nights of accommodation for non-Barcelona residents. Travel costs are not covered. Please bear in mind that the workshop will issue an invitation letter if needed. However, we cannot assist with visas, immigration requirements or travel arrangements; those are the responsibility of the attending student or scholar.
We look forward to your contributions and to an engaging discussion on the multifaceted challenges of inequality!
