As universities across the English-speaking word move to "decolonise" their curricula, the Ubisunt Group aims to offer a free, knowledge-based alternative.

The foundation of a civilisation is its culture, and culture can be found in the physical as well as immaterial. Literature is a beautiful synthesis of the two; taking stories that have inspired generations and enshrining them in the written word, preserves that culture.

Sadly our literary culture is under attack.

Moves by university departments to remove iconic and essential authors and texts such as Chaucer, Beowulf and Homer, is a direct front assault on the value of that culture.

However, universities have made the mistake of thinking that they hold the authority to do this.

They are wrong: our culture is ours, and we have the power to preserve it.

The push back has to start somewhere. That is why we will be holding monthly reading groups, in an informal and engaging style, dedicated to the major figures of English poetry: Shakespeare; Milton; Pope; and many others.

We hope you will join us.
