In previous years, PULSE operated under the name CASA, the Caribbean African Student Association, which shared a similar mission of celebrating African and Caribbean cultures. CASA was well-known for its iconic fashion show at the Centennial Theater, showcasing cultural heritage through dance and fashion while promoting local artistic talent. Beyond that, CASA hosted events like paint-and-sip nights, movie nights, and themed Gait nights that brought the community together.
Today, PULSE carries forward this legacy with fresh energy and innovative ideas. Dedicated to celebrating the rich heritage of African and Caribbean cultures, PULSE fosters an inclusive environment where students of African and Caribbean descent feel empowered, valued, and supported. By hosting engaging events, educational initiatives, and cultural activities, we create a safe space for Black students to share their experiences, voice their concerns, and build connections, while promoting unity, understanding, and a more equitable campus for everyone.
Our first activity was a midterm-season study session called '' Find Your Study Buddy '', which aimed to foster connections among students. Since then, we've hosted successful trivia nights, movie nights, dance workshops, and many more. Stay tuned for upcoming events and check out our event calendar to see what we have upcoming!
