The fastest route to an active Ubigi plan begins away from the checkout. Ubigi delivers its travel data plans as eSIM profiles, so the device has to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Two quick checks cover most cases:
Dial *#06# and look for an EID number. On an iPhone you can also open Settings > General > About and look for the EID entry.
On iOS, check Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock. It should read 'No SIM restrictions'.
On Windows 10 or 11, open Settings > Network & Internet and see whether 'Cellular' appears.
Ubigi supports iOS, iPadOS, Android and Windows 10 and 11. Compatibility still needs verifying on your own handset, so do this before paying rather than at the airport.
There are three doors into the same account: the Ubigi app, ubigi.com, or the web portal at ubigi.me. Codes work on both the website and the app, so use whichever is quicker. Create or sign in to an account at this stage. Your country of residence is set when the account is created, and pricing and eligibility vary by that setting, so it is worth getting right first time.
Tap the Top Up symbol to see the available one-off and recurring eSIM data plans, then select your destination. Ubigi advertises plans in more than 200 destinations, each listed with a data allowance, a validity window in days and a price.
Choose a one-off plan. The discount applies across the catalogue except monthly data plans, so a recurring subscription will not take the code. Note too that each order can include only one eSIM data plan — adding another replaces the one already in your cart.
On the payment or summary step there is a dedicated coupon code field. In the app it sits just above the total; on the website it is under the order summary at checkout. Type EDC10 into that field and press Apply.
Timing matters here. The code must be entered before you select a payment option, otherwise the field may be greyed out and you will have to start the order again. Only one promotion applies per order, so remove any other offer first.
The discount is 10% off the plan price at checkout, not extra data. Confirm the total has dropped by a tenth before paying. As an example of the arithmetic, a $17 plan should show roughly $15.30 once the code is applied. If the figure has not moved, the code has not registered.
Complete payment. A confirmation screen appears and a confirmation email follows. Install the eSIM profile via QR code or direct install while connected to Wi-Fi — do this at home or in the hotel, not on patchy mobile data.
On arrival at your destination, enable the line and switch on data roaming for it. The eSIM profile is reusable, so on future trips you can top up the same profile rather than installing a new one.
A few details are not fixed in the offer and should be read on the plan page at checkout:
Whether any minimum spend applies.
Billing currency details.
Whether the plan you picked auto-renews — the renewal setting sits in your account.
Local taxes and card currency conversion sit outside the code's control, so the final charge on your statement may differ slightly from the on-screen total.
Treat EDC10 as single-use, one per account: promo codes are single-use, so plan the order you most want it on.
Ubigi is a brand of Transatel, a Paris-based connectivity company owned by NTT. Transatel negotiates carrier agreements directly rather than reselling through intermediaries, and also provides in-car connectivity for BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz; traffic in Asia-Pacific can route through NTT Docomo. The service is data-only — messaging and calling apps work over data, but there is no phone number for traditional voice calls or SMS. Ubigi sits toward the premium end of the travel eSIM market, which is part of why the 10% matters.
