Newsroom Sessions: Raccoon Cartoons
Role: Recording, Mixing, and Mastering Engineer
Objective: We aimed to recreate the intimate, live-in-the-room atmosphere similar to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. To achieve this, we focused on using room microphones to capture the natural acoustics and blend of vocals, violin, and flute, rather than relying heavily on close-miking techniques.
Technical Details: Recorded with Pro Tools using only 8 inputs; mixed and mastered on Ableton Live 12. [Watch on YouTube]
Live Performance Recordings
Projects with Sapphire Starbelt, recorded at the Cal Poly Recital Hall. These sessions utilized a Yamaha LS9 mixer routed into Reaper, with close miking on instruments and XY room mics mounted to the ceiling to capture the hall’s natural reverb. Role: Recording Engineer for each performance.
