Alpha Psi is an organization unlike any other on campus. We offer a non-traditional approach to Greek life as we do not have an international business that we report back to. We write (and rewrite) our own bylaws, make changes to the chapter based on the active members of those years, and have a small, close-knit alumni network. We have been on the UAlberta campus since 2004 when our two founders wanted an opportunity to be in a sorority but didn’t find their home in any of the options available to them at the time. We continue to uphold the spirit of offering what others don’t by being the first to introduce a completely gender-neutral approach in everything we do.
We pride ourselves on our commitment to Sisterhood, Leadership, Academia, and Philanthropy. First and foremost, we are a student group created to enhance the University experience, which is why we focus a lot of our time and energy on Sisterhood and Academia. To fulfill our commitment to Leadership, we are fortunate that part of what comes with having a smaller, more dedicated chapter is that there are more opportunities to hold leadership positions. The vast majority of our members take on a leadership role at some point in their time as an active member, with most of us taking it on in our first or second year! Many of our members also hold positions in other organizations on campus, work for the university, or are members of honour societies. Finally, we uphold the spirit of Philanthropy in whatever ways possible considering the community around us. This year, we did a food drive for the campus food bank and a fundraiser for the Christmas Bureau, as we try to always give back to our direct community.
When Covid-19 hit the world, we were quick to move fully online and continued out our normal operations for the rest of the semester online. It was really nice for all of us to have our routine with the sisterhood stay the same when the world around us was falling apart. We followed that by creating a Discord server for our members in May and introducing once-a-week hangouts over the summer where we got to catch up and see our sisters with a little bit of consistency. We also made the decision that Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 would be online for us long before the University or Student Group Services required it of us, as our #1 priority at all times is the safety of our members and their families. We had a wonderfully successful online recruitment in Fall 2020 and are prepared to do the same in Fall 2021.

On October 13, 1890, eleven law students at Cornell University formed a Law Fraternity, Delta Chi. In 1922, the Fraternity officially went “general,” thus opening its membership to men in all areas of study. In 1929, Delta Chi became the first fraternity to officially abolish hazing practices associated with “hell week.” Since its founding at Cornell, Delta Chi has grown to more than 120 chapters and colonies across the United States and Canada and has initiated more than 107,000 brothers. The success of Delta Chi has hinged on the continued recruitment of excellent young men and the support of experienced alumni from the local to international level.
At Delta Chi, you have the opportunity to become the man you were meant to be. Delta Chi believes in developing the whole person and helping our men become better people, not just better Delta Chis, who are committed to making an impact on the world around them. We cultivate inclusive environments for any person who self-identifies as a man, who reflects and lives our values of promoting friendship, developing character, advancing justice, and assisting in the acquisition of a sound education. It’s through these values that our members become men of action and grow to become the best version of themselves while living, leading, and growing each day with integrity.
“We, the members of The Delta Chi Fraternity, believing that great advantages are to be derived from a brotherhood of college and university men, appreciating that close association may promote friendship, develop character, advance justice, and assist in the acquisition of a sound education, do ordain and establish this Constitution” - Delta Chi Preamble

Us, at the Epsilon Alpha chapter of FIJI are looking forward to having an exciting upcoming year not only in regards to our own chapter but the whole Greek community at the University of Alberta as a whole. This year will most certainly have many challenges but our goal to remain to have a consistent presence on the U of A campus and Greek community remain the same.
The Zeta Gamma chapter of Theta Chi was installed at the University of Alberta on February 20th, 1965. To this day, our chapter remains the only Canadian chapter of Theta Chi. Based in military roots, we seek to create resolute men who strive to better themselves in their time at university. Also priding ourselves on our motto of “An Assisting Hand”, we endeavour to help all those in need, whether it be our brothers, or our fellow man. We have participated in many philanthropy opportunities, such as raising money for Wounded Warriors, and volunteering at the Food Bank. We hold the virtues of Truth, Temperance, and Tolerance in high regard, but above all else, our Alma Mater. We place high value in creating friends for life, and a network of individuals that support each other in distress. As the smallest fraternity on campus, we make an effort to maintain good relationships between our brothers, whether it be by gaming together, or having bonfires at the house.
