The goal of Florence Nightingale Days is to promote future career opportunities in statistics and data science, and celebrate contributions of women to these fields. 

Florence Nightingale was a pioneer of medical medical statistics. While working as a nurse during the Crimean war she was able to significantly reduce death rates by using statistical reasoning to justify the needs to improve hygiene and living standards. Her contributions to medicine and statistical analysis were revolutionary and are still felt to this day.
